A Very April transformation!

I'm too shy to post this to egl, there's just a much bigger crowed than the 50 or so people who watch me! I'll try and hold back my internal negative comments, so here's April's April transformation theme!

Yerg, dig my creepy grins!
Oh god nooo! No makeup, my hair was brushed and face cleaned etc.

Tools of the trade to try and beautify that mug o' mine. Greenstick, concealer, foundation, eyeliner, gloss ( which I forgot anyways! ) and eyeshadows with a few falsies and lipstick shades.

Foundation layer, no glasses!!

Makeup of fail camera pickup apparently.

and the reveal!

Wigs and outfits yay! Went for a casual look as I went out to lunch in this. Please be honest, does blonde work on me? I like it but at the same time I worry that I just look horribly horribly fake in a tacky blonde party wig kind of way.

Anyways let's end this post with LOLITA JUST DANCE!
This was at the meetup on april 10th, aren't they just the best?

also caught up with a loli I met at nova.

So Here's a quick review of a few purchases I've made over the past month. They include wigs, dress and shoes from various sellers. Starting with shoes!

The first pair are model no. 9830 and the second is model no. 9828
Both are from secret shop in pink, size M. The difference is I ordered the first via egl saleswoman Yikyu1991716 and the later were ordered through Junie's fantasy parlour. both were perfect sellers and got back to my questions within 24hours, Yikyu especially as there was a problem with shipping from secret shop and furthermore a public holiday which she promptly informed me about via both email and msn messenger!

Shoes were in perfect order. My only complaint is 23.5cm was the listed size, I assumed this was foot longth. WRONG! The sole of the shoes inside actually fits closer to a 24.5-25cm foot, eep! Much to big for my little toes, so back on the market these go. The platform pair have a similar problem but are actually really comfortable to wear as is so I won't be changing them.

Shipping wise Junie's was the last thing I ordered in this whole post but was the first to arrive! Epic shipping time is epic haha. The heels on the other hand only arrived last week despite my ordering them first and foremost, however as mentioned there were shipping problems so that was to be expected.

I've ordered a total of 3 wigs this month. one from GLW ( on the right)  and two from different ebay sellers. ( the first two) As everyone is already aware of GLW quality and efficiency i'll skip that one and just post worn pics real quick like. The hime wig was not the colour for me, so off to the marketplace it went!

The first is actually a fantasy sheep wig, even got the tags with it, ordered from ebay seller yoitsukizuna2008. It's 'Lolita candy wig' in coco brown. Just to say this wig is AWESOME. The bangs and hair are all really thick and it has a good feel to it. The fibres are soft and bouncy, though not heat resistant. Shipping wise let me just say I hadn't even checked if I'd gotten a tracking number and then it arrived on my doorstep. I was not expecting how quick it was sent. Highly suggesting this seller if you want a fantasy sheep wig without the hassle of a taoboa agent. I don't know if the price of $54.00 was a fair amount, I honestly can't navigate the fantasy sheep site though so if it's waaay overpriced I guess I can live and let. Pics!

The first is the wig in it's 3 parts, two clip ins and the actual wig from both a front and back angle. The next is the actual wig without clips in worn, a little less stunning, and the third is a view of the actual clip. As you can see there's also ties so the whole wig is pretty versatile. Onto the next wig!

I'm...not a blonde. Obviously. So I was really worried about how i'd look with a blonde wig, figured I'd start with a nice cheap wig and see how it looked. I knew I could pull off perfect gold blonde ( GLW's wig looked sandy brown blonde on my moniter, not GOLD, although the title shoulda tipped me off haha! ) so when I saw the not quite blonde brown I thought 'I can work with this' I'm under the assumption I did, let me know 'kay? Anyways This wig was from Jordan *insert numbers* and was the last wig to arrive after two weeks of untracked shipping.

The quality of this wig is superb, I can really run my fingers through it, just lovely! What else can I say about this wig? Oh! Apparently it's a 'hivision collection' wig, which is what the tag says, and the company was lovely enough to send me a wig cap with it on purchase, handy since mine went missing as I opened the parcel. I'm not sure what it's made of as the instructions aren't in english but it does say a japanese made synthetic fibre. either way I'll keep it away from heat!

Accessories and dress

Ok Lastly I, along with my shoes, orderd a pair of wrist cuffs from Junie's fantasy parlour. They were nice but a little flimsy, i ended up putting the wistcuffs my sister made me underneath them. The bow is detachable and overall it was a nice purchase, I may just learn to make my own though. Left is with mine underneath, right is without.

and of course my sweets princess arrived from japonicamarket, whohavemassiveshippingcostsomigawd, I'll save the review and post pics. This is a very heavy dress! There's actually two petticoats underneath this, please excuse the messy hair and the like I was just excited to have it! I was a little disappointed at first, to those few who mighta seen me post about it to egl, but i don't know, the second tme I tried it on it was kind of like 'wait, what was I complaining about?'

If anyone has an interest in buying the hime wig let me know as I have a sales thread up at the moment! Heehee, shameless plug! Still waiting on the taoboa stuff!

Double Update part one!

Due to a lack of some...REAL articles lately I'm going to wrap up my week in two posts, the first focusing on how I've fared on the past week and things happening, then something a bit more generaly lolita related!

NEW STUFF! I've been keeping it to myself but I ordered a new AP dress, Sweets Princess OP in pink. I saw this dress back in 2009, when I started taking buying and dressing lolita seriously instead of fawning passivly, but it was a paler pink. As done with a few other dresses Angelic pretty rereleased this style, though a slightly brighter pink. I was so taken by it I immediantly asked Japonica market to purchase it, now here I am and they just sent me a shipping invoice! I'm so excited, this will be the first brand piece I've ever owned that hasn't been second hand, I just wish shipping hadn't been an arm and a leg...

I also ordered and finally recieved a pair of SS shoes, replica wristcuffs and a new fantasy sheep wig which I'll post a mini review on later in the week!

Supanova, the largest Queensland convention, was a blast. I got up at 7am to do my hair and makeup so I could catch the 8.30 bus to be there by 9.30 so I could get in in time for the Lolita fashion panel at 10.15. What a rush! I met a truly lovely lolita in line, a refresher since I'd been asked several times who I was cosplaying as and what my costume was. She looked just adorable! I wish I'd gotten a picture with her.

We walked together to the auditorium for the panel, it was briefer than I thought it would be. It was the first time I met any other Brisbane lolitas so I was a little nervous. We chatted a little but I kinda left them early to see some of the other people I knew would be there, they all looked absolutely stunning of course. There's a meet later on this weekend I'd like to attend as well!

Outfit rundown was my frill marine op, ebay wig, dear celine petti, bodyline socks, offbrand ADORABLE shoes and bag with a bow I bought from one day in paradise while I was there.

Anyways, I think that about covers everything! I have the last of my exams coming up and I am excited to relax, and vege out for the holidays. I hope everyone else is also having a good week!

Pre-Con Post

So I figured a post before the big hooblah was in order. If you're anything like me the day/night before is a rush job which means taking care of loose ends, getting your stuff organised etc. So I had an exam today as well, throwing a 2 hour mandatory time block in plus study time, think I aced it. Hope.

Went into the city to find the finishing touches for some wristcuffs I'm putting together, this late in the game! Organised bus times, turns out I've got to be on the bus at 8.30am to get there in time for the Lolita fashion show by One Day in Paradise. Bleh, I hate early mornings! Bought a red bag to go with my outfit as the one I ordered isn't going to show up until thursday. O.O rageface. Ah well, it was $10.00 and has room for the neccesities and more! I'll be packing makeup, keys, wallet etc. I'm meeting a few friends as well before, plus picking up batteries for the camera. Let's see, made a headbow too, brushed out my wig, ironed the dress, washed my socks...think that's everything. I don't function very well so early in the morning so I prefer to make a checklist and pack bags the night before.

I admit I am a little nervous because only my OP is actually brand and I'm worried the offbrand clashes, but it looked good when I did at home so how bad can it be?

I got invited to karaoke or a friend's place after so I'm not sure what to do after. I can't wait mostly to do some shopping at one day in paradise's stall, i've never purchased lolita in the flesh so yayness for me, that and I love character spotting. I'm so...out of toucher with anime though  don't recognise many people. Other than that a pic with Tom Felton ( Draco Malfoy from the Potter movies ) is in order.

SO! With cons on the brain I'm going to air something I've been meaning to for a while. I know a lot of people poo poo the idea of calling lolita a costume, some people agree, others don't. The reason I'm making such a fuss of how I look isn't because this is a 'costume' for an pop culture convention. It's that I view lolita as a...well the same way you'd view a ballgown really for prom or formal or a nice dinner. Expensive, beautifull dresses, not for everyday wear, but still special. It's why I don't wear lolita EVERYDAY. To me it's a 'I want to look stunning just for today' kinda deal. I don't have anything against people who do that of course, but if I walked around in poofy skirts and bows everywhere monday to sunday it'd lose a bit of magic. It's why I wouldn't wear it at work or just hanging with friends on a friday night. Sure sometimes, but mostly for big events, birthdays, parties etc.

Lastly, questions I've been meaning to fire at lolitas who do cons as well. Do you prefer cosplay or lolita when going to a convention? Favourite things to do there? Do you ever get mistaken as a charcter? ( Ignoring Misa from Deathnote ) Are lolitas prone to getting photo opportunities too? Is it easy to get stains, dirt etc. on you? I don't plan to sit on the ground but it worries me! So much stuff I don't know!

To finish, the wristcuffs I made and will be wearing tomorrow, WIP shot. They're finished now but the camera died. I'm making some other ones that are pink and ribbon/rose themes to go with lady rose, though I'm getting some actual wristcuffs in the mail next thursday so who knows if it'll be worth it. VARIETY!
